Mission Statement

The Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization funded through membership fees, corporate sponsors, City of Merritt and annual fund-raising activities. Our membership consists of businesses, non-profit organizations, professional individuals and associations with a common goal - to promote Merritt as a great place to live, work and visit. There are over 170,000 chambers across Canada that are the first contact for business and individuals who are thinking of relocating. Your membership (cost is about .50 a day) provides you with world-wide instant access to your business through our membership directory that lists your email, web site and contact information.  There are also numerous other benefits to being a member of the Chamber which are listed on this web site under Member Benefits.

The Chamber is governed by the Board of Trades Act and our own by-laws. The Board of Directors plan the strategic policies and programs on an annual basis and approve the annual budget. Chamber staff and volunteers handle the day-to-day operations and take direction from the Board in regard to implementing the strategic plan and organizing Chamber events.

The Chamber facilitates networking events for members such as the "Business after Business" monthly meetings that allows our members to showcase their product and/or services and make valuable contact with other business owners.  We strongly urge our members to attend these events, even if it's just to stay connected with the rest of the business community.

The Chamber will advocate on your behalf regarding your business concerns or on local, provincial and federal government issues. As a member of the Merritt Chamber, you are a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the federal and provincial "voice of business".
