The last Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce networking event for this year is being hosted by Edward Jones, located at 1964 Quilchena Ave, this coming Tuesday, November 25th at 5 pm. Edward Jones has been in Canada for over 14 years with more than 600 financial advisors and 1700 associates across Canada. Mike Lester, the Financial Advisor in the Merritt office has won company awards this year – the Pioneer Award for successfully opening a new branch office and the Regional Leader Award for business growth. Mike is originally from Surrey and came to Merritt about 3 years ago with his then 5-year-old son, Kaelan, who is becoming a really good little hockey player. After 2 years of working out of his home, the business had expanded enough that Mike needed office space and additional staff to keep up, so he opened his office on Quilchena Ave a little over a year ago. The Seminar (at 6 pm) at this event is entitled “Investment Insight”, and this will show you how to invest your money whether you have a thousand dollars or a million dollars. It doesn’t matter how much money you have – what matters is when you need it – are you looking at short-term or long-term investments? Should I diversify my financial portfolio? What are good investments in these uncertain times? Is leaving my savings in a bank account the best thing to do? Should I be investing in the stock market right now? Not only can Mike Lester answer your questions, he will gladly give you a second opinion on your financial portfolio to make sure that your money is working for you. Customer satisfaction is Number One with Edward Jones and Mike always keeps in touch with his clients, especially when the markets are down. The economy is partly driven by fear and he considers it part of his job to keep his clients calm and focused, and persuade them not to make any rash decisions. If you are like me and fall into the “no money” range or you have $50,000.00 stuffed in a suitcase under your bed, this Business-after-Business networking event is a “must attend” for you. Even you smart money managers will get some good financial advice and information so you can plan how to make your next million. There will be refreshments and “appies”, and one last chance before 2009 to get together with other Chamber members. If you would like to host a "Business after Business" event and be featured on our web site, please call the office at 250-378-5634 or email
