Position: Chamber of Commerce - Special Events Coordinator
Employer: Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce
Location: Merritt
Hours: Approx. 35 hours per week (flexible) Will include most weekends or Saturdays.
Contract Duration: 8 weeks (July/August 2022)
Anticipated Start Date: June 28, 2022 – August 28, 2022 (max. 280 Hours) Language Required: English Wages: $17 per hour

The Chamber of Commerce Special Events coordinator primarily involves assisting the Chamber staff by participating in events in the Nicola Valley - promoting the City of Merritt, Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses & not for-profits.
Job responsibilities include:
Supporting the Chamber and NVIT with outreach & networking activities
Promoting the Chamber and its programming at local community events
Booking vendors, media, advertising, and other required planning
Overall awareness of summer activities and events in the Nicola Valley
Monitor attendance, vendor participation and events during their run Provide
Chamber support to other business community members on request
Providing support as needed in other community event-related projects and duties
General office duties and taking photos at events
Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
Good organizational and time management skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Previous experience with social media
Ability to problem solve
Driver’s License (or evidence of reliable transportation
