Position: Chamber of Commerce - Special Events Coordinator

Employer: Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce

Location: Merritt

Hours: Approx. 35 hours per week (flexible) Will include most weekends or Saturdays.

Contract Duration: 8 weeks (July/August 2022)

Anticipated Start Date: June 28, 2022 – August 28, 2022 (max. 280 Hours)

Language Required: English

Wages: $17 per hour

Closing Date: June 15, 202


The Chamber of Commerce Special Events coordinator primarily involves assisting the Chamber staff by participating in events in the Nicola Valley - promoting the City of Merritt, Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses & not for-profits.


Job responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Chamber and NVIT with outreach & networking activities

  • Promoting the Chamber and its programming at local community events

  • Booking vendors, media, advertising, and other required planning

  • Overall awareness of summer activities and events in the Nicola Valley

  • Monitor attendance, vendor participation and events during their run Provide

  • Chamber support to other business community members on request

  • Providing support as needed in other community event-related projects and duties

  • General office duties and taking photos at events

  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good organizational and time management skills

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Previous experience with social media

  • Ability to problem solve

  • Driver’s License (or evidence of reliable transportation
